Following a record building time of just 15 months , the Progroup AG commenced production in Eisenhüttenstadt on 15.03.2010. Using the highest-capacity paper mill in the world, the company produces raw paper for corrugated cardboard of the “next generation”. The new procedure allows the production of fibre-saving and thus lightweight corrugated board base paper on the basis of waste paper. The overall investment was about 425 million euros for the paper mill and a further 225 million euros for the adjacent power plant of EnBW. The factory is continuously showing its effectiveness with new speed records in production as the 10.85 m broad paper mill produced with an average speed of 1.675 m/min over 24 hoursas first worldwide. On the 350,000 m² site in the industrial area at the Oder-Spree Canal a total of 175 direct high-tech jobs were created with the investment as well as 500 indirect jobs throughout companies in the region.
