Frankfurt Oder, 19.01.2023:
Around 3 months after the groundbreaking ceremony at B&O Holzbau GmbH, the silhouette of the company’s Hall No. 3 is clearly visible. Currently, the glulam trusses for the roof structure are being installed at the construction site in the Markendorf 2 industrial park in Frankfurt (Oder). Each of the 15 custom-built trusses is 40m long, approx. 2m high and 27cm wide.
With a weight of 6.5t per piece and a wind contact area of approx. 60m², a special crane as well as almost no wind was required so that the team of the company Hennemann Holzbau, specialized in the production and assembly of roof trusses and glulam constructions, could erect the construction including wind bracing. The glulam trusses were delivered via special low-loaders with escort vehicles and special permission exclusively at night. The decision to use wooden girders instead of alternative metal products was made deliberately because of the greater span widths that could be realized without supports as well as better properties with regard to fire protection.
The groundbreaking ceremony for Hall No. 3 took place on October 19th, 2022. The completion of the shell is scheduled for the end of April 2023. Subsequently, the hall will be equipped with technical infrastructure and installed with machinery and equipment. The concept of the site expansion for B&O Holzbau GmbH comes from the planning office “DAS Projektplanung” from Frankfurt (Oder). Since FREYLER Industriebau from Leipzig has already built the first two halls at the site, FREYLER is also responsible for the turnkey implementation of the new hall. Completion of the assembly and production hall, which is almost 12 meters high and 85 meters long, is scheduled for summer 2023.
In the future, B&O Holzbau GmbH will produce wooden wall elements for multi-story residential construction at the new location, a steadily growing market with the goal of meeting the increasing demands for sustainable, energy-efficient and at the same time economically feasible residential construction.
For the further expansion of production, B&O is looking for qualified and motivated employees: from warehousemen to craftsmen of various trades (especially carpenters) to machine operators or construction planners.
