Moreover, Frankfurt (Oder) is an interesting business location because of its well-developed infrastructure and its close proximity to Berlin. The city’s geographical position on the East West axis: Paris – Berlin – Warsaw – Moscow enormously supports the economical exchange from and to Frankfurt (Oder).

Education and Research are the strongest pillars for the future in Frankfurt: Around 4,500 students from 100 countries are studying at the European University Viadrina. The university cooperates with more than 250 partner universities from all over the world. The Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics (IHP) is the worldwide leading competence center for silicon-germanium technology. It conducts cutting-edge research and development into silicon-based systems, high-frequency circuits and technologies for wireless and broadband communication. As a transition between basic research and application-oriented applications, the institute makes significant contributions to the innovative strength and ability of Germany and Europe as a location.

Since 1999 Frankfurt (Oder) has been called the “Kleist-City”. It is the home town of Heinrich von Kleist a well known German poet, born in 1777. The Kleist-museum is according to the German magazine “DIE ZEIT” (2000) one of the most beautiful museums of literature in Europe. It shows 34,000 works about the extensive documentation of Heinrich von Kleist and his literary-historical environment.

Another important aspect of the cultural life in Frankfurt is the Brandenburg State Orchestra. It is located in the concert hall “Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach“ close to the river Oder. Frankfurt (Oder) shows also a great offer of sport activities: Many Olympic champions and medalists like Henry Maske or Hermann Weingärtner come from Frankfurt (Oder).  Furthermore, the Olympic base and the elite sports school in Frankfurt (Oder) provide the best conditions for trainings and competitions in many disciplines.
