The European University Viadrina has won the first prize in the final round of the Innovationsbank Berlin think tank university rankings of the BerlinBrandenburg 2015 business plan competition. For the second time in succession, this makes it the most successful university for start-ups in the whole State of Brandenburg, followed by the University of Potsdam, the Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development and the University of Brandenburg. The Viadrina entered the competition with no less than 36 ideas for start-ups for the BerlinBrandenburg region, Germany and Europe, ranging from a learning aid app to services in childcare and solutions for sustainable, nutritionally aware catering. The BerlinBrandenburg business plan competition
is the largest of its kind in Germany and has been running for more than 20 years. The Centre for Entrepreneurship & Research at the University Viadrina organises participation and provides support for development, supervision and submission of the business plans of the aspiring entrepreneurs. To foster the local founding of start-ups of its students, the university is currently developing a concept to settle a „founders factory” in Frankfurt (Oder).
