Alcaro invests 75 million euros in Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder)

Frankfurt (Oder), June 30th 2023:

The Log Plaza logistics park in Frankfurt (Oder) is set to grow. Anton Mertens, Managing Partner and Chairman of the Board of Osmab Holding AG, arrived from Rösrath in the Rhineland with the good news for the 700th anniversary celebration at the district of Lichtenberg in Frankfurt (Oder).

Osmab AG is the parent company of the real estate developer Alcaro Invest GmbH, which planned and built the first hall complex between Lichtenberg’s Nordstrasse and the federal highway  A12.

Since the end of 2022, Hall A with 47,500 square meters of rental space has been fully leased to the EV Cargo group of companies. Here, lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles are temporarily stored, repackaged and delivered.

The success motivates Alcaro to make the next investment. “We will submit the building application for the next construction phase in the summer,” explained Anton Mertens. Another hall complex, Hall B, is planned. This is to be built on around 90,000 square meters and will thus be “about twice as large as the current Hall A.” The new hall is to be connected to the existing complex. It will be built “right up to the highway,” the founder and head of Osmab Holding further explained. The hall complex, which will be around 530 meters long, will be “as large as ten soccer fields,” explained Anton Mertens. Accordingly, construction is to start this year. According to him, Alcaro Invest will invest around 75 million euros in the next construction phase of the Log Plaza. The visitors to the 700th anniversary celebration acknowledged the announcement with great applause.

As Peter Bergmann, project manager at Alcaro Invest, reports, talks with one potential customer in particular are already well advanced. “That’s why we decided to tackle the next and also largest hall now and not wait any longer,” he explains. There is a growing demand for immediately available logistics space in many industries, he says. And the site offers optimal conditions for this.

In the fall of 2022, a logistics study commissioned by Alcaro from the Fraunhofer Institute for the Frankfurt/Slubice region also identified great potential for logistics and industrial settlements. Among other things, the study highlighted the high workforce potential, the availability of large areas of land, the favorable location between Germany and Poland, and the good transport connections.

This is because, in addition to the rapid accessibility via the autobahn and federal highways, there is also a transshipment point for combined goods and freight traffic in containers with direct train connections to the major seaports on the North Sea in the form of the CT terminal in Frankfurt. In addition, the training of logistics specialists and managers at the Universities of Zielona Gora, the Viadrina and the Collegium Polonicum is another plus point.
